8th Grade Band
The 8th Grade Band is the next step for Rensselaer middle school students. Members will continue to build upon skills learned in the years previous and will meet as a full ensemble every day during the school year. Students in 8th Grade Band continue their musical journey by learning even more about their musical instruments, performing more complex music, and working towards performing more as an ensemble.
Any 8th grade student who wishes to participate in band will have the opportunity to do so. Students who wish to continue to develop even further are encouraged to participate in the Indiana State School Music Association (ISSMA) Solo and Ensemble non-competitive contest. Additionally, students in this group will have the opportunity to join the jazz band as well as the pep band. Students will also have the opportunity to participate in the Indiana Bandmasters' Association (IBA) All Region Band.
8th grade band students perform a minimum of 4 performances throughout the year:

- Rensselaer Fall Band Festival in October
- Rensselaer Winter Band Concert in December
- ISSMA Organizational Non-Competitive Contest in March
- Rensselaer Spring Band Concert in May
