High School Jazz Middle School Jazz
The Rensselaer Central Jazz Band was created to give band students the opportunity to grow and expand their musical talents by exploring the Jazz idiom, including but not limited to jazz, blues, rock, soul, funk, and more. This ensemble is made up of band students grades 9-12 who have had prior band experience, and this group meets as a class at the high school level. Additionally, the jazz band will meet once a week after school, typically from 3:30 pm to 5:00 pm on Thursdays starting in November, giving students with class conflicts the opportunity to participate.
The Jazz Band serves many of the same functions as the Concert Bands in that this ensemble will also perform at many of the concerts held throughout the year. Additionally, the Jazz Band might travel to area schools as well as selected jazz festivals and non-competitive functions throughout the year. Performances include:

This ensemble is made up of band students grades 7-8 who have had prior band experience. The ensemble meets during the homeroom time on Fridays. Students must be in good academic standing to participate. Removal from the group can occur should a student fail to meet the academic requirements.
